Jean-Michel VEILLON
The Man
Jean-Michel simply is the initiator of transverse wooden flute playing in Brittany. His instrument, whose origins dates back to Antiquity in Central Asia, settled as a tradition in Ireland two Centuries ago and, 20 years ago, Jean-Michel modified the instrumental technique in accordance with Breton musical styles. Jean-Michel has recorded 2 solo albums and two in duo with Yvon Riou, but has an amazing career as he played with such legendary bands as : Barzaz, Den , Kornog, Galorn, Pennoù Skoulm...
He also participated to 'Héritage des Celtes', Jacques Pellen's 'Celtic Procession', Didier Squiban's 'Brest 96' and released 'Kenstroll', a live session recording.
He recently reformed Kornog together with Christian Lemaître, Nicolas Quemener and Jamie McMenemy and recorded a new live album together with Yvon Riou, « Beo ».
